PROCEDURE
1. Have the patient lie comfortably supine: Do not place in lithotomy position.
2. Test the catheter-balloon twice at 5 ml with air before catheterisation, following the instructions for use of the CE-DAS® UROGENICS®.
3. Insert the CE-DAS® UROGENICS®/ Ag 9900 catheter-electrode into the bladder using conventional gel-lubricants (preferably lidocaine based, water soluble), and inflate balloon at 3 ml with air.
4. After flushing and draining the bladder with sterile distilled water, determine the bladder capacity .
5. Instil into the bladder the drug solution to a volume corresponding to 5-10 ml below the bladder capacity, example: capacity 90 ml —> instil 80 ml.
6. Select a large area of unblemished skin on the abdomen and thoroughly "degrease" by wiping with alcohol.
7. Wet the 2 dispersive electrodes with saline solution 0.9%, or tap water, then cover the abdomen with a layer of 5-7 mm thick conductive gel and place the electrodes. Assure complete contact without air bubbles, by pressing and sliding gently side to side the 2 dispersive electrodes.
8. Connect the red wire of the PHYSIONIZER® to the catheter CE-DAS® UROGENICS® and the black wire to the dispersive electrodes.
9. Follow the instructions of the PHYSIONIZER® and set all values as indicated above. Push "START" to run the treatment..
10. Continue treatment until the PHYSIONIZER® signals the end of EMDA with a beep.
11. Drain the bladder and remove the catheter.
12. Additional fluid (urine) appears during treatment and the quantity can vary widely.
Check carefully the total amount of fluid drained at the end of treatment.
ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS TO EMDA-BOTOX
- Allergy/Idiosyncrasy to Botox
- Intravesical bleeding.
- Active urinary tract infection.
RELATIVE CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Strictures of the urethra or bladder neck.

PROCEDURE:
1. Faire allonger confortablement le patient en position décubitus dorsal: Ne pas placer le patient en position de lithotomie.
2. Avant la cathétérisation, faire le test de gonflage/dégonflage du ballon-cathéter 2 fois à 5 ml avec de l'air, comme indiqué par les instructions pour l'utilisation du CE-DAS® UROGENICS®.
3. Introduire le cathéter-électrode CE-DAS®UROGENICS®/Ag 9900 en utilisant un gel anesthésique conventionnel hydrosoluble (de préférence à base de lidocaine) et gonfler le ballonnet à 3 ml avec de l'air
4. Après le rincage et la vidange de la vessie avec de l'eau stérile distillé, déterminer la tolérance de la vessie au niveau de douleur.
5. Instiller dans la vessie la solution à un volume correspondant à 5-10 ml au-dessous de la capacité de la vessie. (Par exemple: capacité 90 ml —> instiller 80- 85 ml).
6. Sélectioner deux points lisses sur l'abdomen pour placer les électrodes dispersives et bien nettoyer la peau avec de l' alcool.
7. Mouiller les deux électrodes dispersives avec une solution physiologique à 0.9%, appliquer un couche du gel conducteur de 5-7 mm sur l'abdomen et placer les électrodes. Assurez-vous qu'il y a complete adhérence à la peau et qu'il n'y a pas de bulles d'air en faisant glisser doucement les 2 électrodes.
8. Connecter le fil rouge du PHYSIONIZER au cathéter CE-DAS® UROGENICS® et le fil noir aux électrodes dispersives.
9. Suivre les instructions du PHYSIONIZER® et définir toutes les valeurs comme indiqué ci-dessous. Appuyer sur le bouton de démarrage START de PHYSIONIZER®.
10. L'appareil informe la fin du traitement au moyen d'un signal sonore.
11. Drainer la vessie et enlever le cathéter.
12. Au cours du traitement la quantité d'urine peut varier, bien verifier la quantité d'urine drainée.
CONTRE INDICATIONS ABSOLUE POUR EMDA/AL
- Allergie au Botox
- Important saignement intravesical dénotant rupture de la veine.
- Infection active de l'appareil urinaire
CONTRE INDICATIONS RELATIVES
- Sténose de l'urètre ou de la vessie.
- Psychose ostensible (1-2% patients).
- Alcoolisme (~1% patient)
